River Literacy

The Mancos Conservation District partners with the Mancos Public Library to hold River Literacy lessons as a part of their Friday Program. MCD’s Americorp Member, Hanna Koulogianis, will be holding lessons throughout the school year!

In these lessons, students get hands on science experience outside of the classroom and see new components of nature they may otherwise not see. This year students will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of water, water quality, avalanches, adaptations, bioaccumulation, and the water cycle.

The MCD staff are incredibly passionate about increasing environmental education and awareness at a young age. We believe it is crucial to understand our watershed and why we need to protect our natural resources. Come learn with us!
