Agriculture Irrigation Improvement Projects

In collaboration with the Mancos Watershed Stream Management Plan, the Mancos Conservation District set out to improve agriculture irrigation infrastructure within the Mancos Watershed to promote the health and functionality of the Mancos Watershed. Below are pictures of this work and a report showcasing our projects and funding sources.

Mancos River Diversion Projects

From 2006-2010, assessments of the Mancos River Watershed revealed some critical issues: outdated irrigation infrastructure taking a toll on the Mancos River, degradation of the river channel, inefficient and poorly measured water delivery, and frustrated irrigators unable to afford ongoing maintenance. Additionally, the assessment showed that a major portion of the degradation occurs at diversion sites. To help mitigate these issues, the Mancos Conservation District Developed three phases of diversion projects.
